Airwheel SE3S positions itself as a hybrid between carry-on luggage and a small mobility tool, with a ride-on mode intended for smooth indoor surfaces and long terminal walks. The switch between riding and towing is central to the experience. When used as intended, maneuverability and speed can meaningfully reduce walking effort, and the ride-on format is particularly relevant for travelers who struggle with long distances. 

The suitcase’s 20L capacity is functional for minimalist packing, but it is not a high-volume carry-on, and internal space is partly shaped around the ride bar hardware. At around 9.4 kg, weight is a practical tradeoff, since lifting into overhead storage can feel demanding compared with standard luggage.

Controls integrate acceleration, braking, and reversing into the handle, and app features add convenience like speed adjustment and basic status visibility. However, app features are not essential to the core function, and reliance on a phone can be less appealing for travelers who prefer fully self-contained hardware. 

Ride behavior is also technique-dependent. Braking can require anticipation, and quick turns can feel unstable due to the high center of gravity, especially in crowded spaces. Overall, SE3S works best for airports and flat indoor travel where riding is allowed and there is room to operate safely, while its cost, weight, and situational limitations make it less universal than conventional carry-ons.
