Airwheel SE3S Smart Rideable Suitcase Electric Luggage Scooter

Ride-on carry-on suitcase with a removable battery, TSA lock, and app-enabled controls for short-distance airport movement.

Airwheel SE3S is a compact rideable suitcase designed to switch between electric ride-on travel and standard pull-behind use. It combines a hard-shell carry-on form factor with an integrated motor and a removable battery module, aiming to reduce walking fatigue across terminals and large indoor spaces.

The suitcase includes external USB ports for device charging and a TSA combination lock for basic travel security. Its value sits in making short transfers faster and less tiring, while still functioning as a conventional carry-on when riding is not suitable.

Full Review & Insights ▼

Airwheel SE3S positions itself as a hybrid between carry-on luggage and a small mobility tool, with a ride-on mode intended for smooth indoor surfaces and long terminal walks. The switch between riding and towing is central to the experience. When used as intended, maneuverability and speed can meaningfully reduce walking effort, and the ride-on format is particularly relevant for travelers who struggle with long distances.

The suitcase’s 20L capacity is functional for minimalist packing, but it is not a high-volume carry-on, and internal space is partly shaped around the ride bar hardware. At around 9.4 kg, weight is a practical tradeoff, since lifting into overhead storage can feel demanding compared with standard luggage.

Controls integrate acceleration, braking, and reversing into the handle, and app features add convenience like speed adjustment and basic status visibility. However, app features are not essential to the core function, and reliance on a phone can be less appealing for travelers who prefer fully self-contained hardware.

Ride behavior is also technique-dependent. Braking can require anticipation, and quick turns can feel unstable due to the high center of gravity, especially in crowded spaces. Overall, SE3S works best for airports and flat indoor travel where riding is allowed and there is room to operate safely, while its cost, weight, and situational limitations make it less universal than conventional carry-ons.

Please keep in mind that this is also a large investment to make since the product is a rather expensive upgrade.

🏥 Large Campus and Clinic Visits: Supports short indoor trips across parking lots, corridors, or campuses where repeated walking can be tiring and time-consuming.

🚆 Train Stations and Interchanges: Makes platform-to-platform movement more manageable when connections are tight, provided surfaces are smooth and there is enough space to ride safely.

🔋 Device Charging During Transit: Keeps phones and tablets topped up via external USB ports, which can be useful during long layovers or delays without hunting for outlets.

🧳 Mixed-Mode Travel Days: Allows riding in open stretches and towing through crowded areas, giving flexibility when conditions change across a single travel day.

Our Take on the Product

Airwheel SE3S is best suited to frequent travelers who value faster terminal movement and are comfortable managing a heavier carry-on. It performs well on smooth floors where ride-on use is practical, and the ability to revert to tow mode makes it more versatile than a single-purpose scooter. The key limitations are weight for lifting, modest packing volume, and the need for careful riding technique, especially when turning or stopping quickly.

It is a strong fit for short trips, airport-heavy itineraries, and travelers with mobility fatigue, while those prioritizing maximum packing capacity, low carry weight, or simple luggage-only travel may find a standard carry-on more convenient.

What is the main advantage of a rideable suitcase like the Airwheel SE3S?
It combines carry-on storage with the ability to ride short distances, which can reduce walking fatigue across large terminals or long indoor corridors. It is most useful on smooth surfaces where riding is permitted and safe.

Is the Airwheel SE3S practical as a regular carry-on suitcase?
Yes, it can be used as a pull-behind suitcase when riding is not appropriate, and it includes a TSA lock for standard travel use. Packing volume is limited compared with larger carry-ons, since the ride mechanism shapes the interior.

How stable is it when turning or riding in crowds?
Stability is generally manageable at controlled speeds on smooth floors, but quick turns can feel top-heavy and require attention. In crowded areas, towing often becomes the safer and more predictable option.

What should travelers consider about carrying it onto a plane?
The device is heavier than typical carry-ons, so lifting into overhead bins can be a strain for some travelers. Removing the battery and organizing the lift can make handling easier, but it still requires comfort with a heavier bag.

Do the app features matter for everyday use?
The suitcase can function without relying heavily on app controls, since the core riding and towing actions are hardware-based. The app is most useful for adjusting speed behavior and viewing basic status features, but it is not essential for every trip.
