How TikTok Is Expanding Campus Communities

TikTok has introduced a new feature called Campus Hub, expanding its efforts to build campus-centered communities inside the app. The feature is available to students who verify their college status through TikTok’s partnership with UNiDAYS, a student verification platform. According to the company, the system currently supports students across more than 6,000 universities.

The new Campus Hub builds on TikTok’s existing campus verification feature launched in August 2025. That earlier feature allowed users to add their university to their profile and browse lists of students attending the same school.

With the latest update, verified students now gain access to student-only group chats and personalized campus feeds. The group chats can include up to 300 classmates and are limited exclusively to verified students from the same university. TikTok says these chats are intended to help students maintain communication during summer breaks, organize reunions, and continue campus discussions remotely.

In addition, the new campus feeds surface a combination of content shared by verified students and posts related to a specific university. TikTok says this will help students stay connected to campus events, trends, and updates regardless of location.

The move also positions TikTok more directly against platforms already used for student communication, including Discord, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger. The article notes similarities to Facebook’s early university-focused model, where access initially required a valid college email address.

The launch also follows a similar student verification feature introduced by Instagram last year for U.S. college students.
